Challenge:
The main challenge was to achieve a stable and uniform sand-grain texture across the visible surface. The texture needed to be clearly replicated without gloss variation, flow marks, weld lines, shrinkage, scratches, or uneven grain depth. Since the surface was an appearance area, any inconsistency in mold texture, material flow, cooling, or molding parameters could affect the final visual quality.
Solution:
We controlled the mold surface texturing process to ensure consistent grain depth and texture definition. The gate layout and cooling system were optimized to improve material flow and reduce surface defects. During mold trials, mold temperature, material temperature, injection speed, holding pressure, and cooling time were adjusted to ensure stable texture replication and a uniform matte surface finish.
