Challenge:
The main challenge was to achieve a bright and uniform mirror-like surface while maintaining the optical quality of the DRL photometric lens. The visible area required strict control of surface defects, including flow marks, weld lines, sink marks, scratches, polishing marks, and uneven gloss. Any instability in material flow, cooling balance, or molding parameters could affect both the appearance and the final lighting effect.
Solution:
We applied high-precision machining and fine polishing to the mold surface to meet the mirror-finish requirement. The gate layout and cooling system were optimized to improve material flow and reduce surface defects. During mold trials, mold temperature, material temperature, injection speed, holding pressure, and cooling time were fine-tuned to ensure a stable high-gloss appearance and consistent optical performance.
