  • Challenge and Solution
  • Challenge: A Long Shot Interface Beside Ribbed and Mounting Features

This project concerns a two-shot mold for an elongated PC front lamp bezel. The sample photographs show a black body beside a light-colored strip, repeated features along one edge and projecting details. The mold review needs to consider the long interface together with these surrounding structures.

The visible boundary, adjacent ribs and mounting points need separate acceptance criteria. A clean-looking interface alone does not establish that the bezel meets its assembly requirements. The drawing should identify the reference surfaces, mounting dimensions and areas where parting, gate or ejection marks are permitted.

Solution: Review the Boundary, Local Features and Assembly References Together

The engineering review for this two-shot PC bezel tooling should define how the first-shot geometry is located and supported for the next injection. Check the shut-off boundary, filling approach and cooling arrangement against the full bezel profile, then review the individual ribbed and mounting areas.

    • Long interface beside the light-colored strip: review the intended boundary, locating references and supported areas between shots. Agree where flash, visible steps or witness marks will be assessed.
    • Repeated edge features: check access for filling and venting, the proposed demolding direction and permitted ejector-contact zones. Review these features against the approved geometry rather than appearance alone.
    • Molded bosses and projecting features: identify which features remain on the finished part, then mark the assembly references and any critical hole locations. Review part support and removal from the mold against the mating-part requirements.

At trial review, compare the interface appearance and mounting dimensions with the approved drawings and agreed samples. Link any correction to the part revision and trial conditions. These checks form part of the broader car light bezel mold tooling discussion.

  • Why Choose Us
  • Tooling Support for This Long Two-Shot Bezel

    • Boundary and surrounding details reviewed together: consider the long strip interface alongside the ribbed edge and projecting features, with the permitted witness-mark zones identified on the drawing.
    • Mounting requirements kept in the review: use the agreed reference surfaces and critical hole locations when discussing the bezel geometry and trial inspection.
    • Material and machine data checked before tool decisions: confirm the resin and color specification for each shot, together with the production-machine interfaces. The PC field alone does not define the complete two-shot material specification.
    • Reports tied to agreed acceptance items: the listed DFM, mold-flow, CMM and trial reports provide the document scope for discussing the boundary, mounting dimensions and any required tooling changes.

Renxin Mould can review the available project drawings within the 2K injection mold tooling scope. Confirm the shot interface and assembly requirements before finalizing the tooling specification.

  • Send Your Drawing for Free DFM Review
  • For this front through lamp bezel mold, send the current 3D models and 2D drawings, the resin and color specification for each shot, and the production-machine details. Mark the intended shot boundary, assembly reference surfaces, critical mounting holes and the appearance zones around the long strip and ribbed edge.

Contact Renxin Mould to discuss the available data, inspection requirements and tooling quotation scope.

About
Taizhou Renxin Mould Co., Ltd.

Founded in 2013, Renxin Mould specializes in the design and manufacture of automotive lighting molds. Our tooling scope includes lenses, light guides, bezels, housings and other lamp components, with two-shot, three-color and overmolding mold solutions. Engineering support includes DFM review, mold-flow analysis, mold design, machining, fitting and mold trials according to project requirements.

For 2K front lamp bezel mold projects, the engineering discussion covers part geometry, the specified resin, optical or appearance surfaces and assembly interfaces. The mold structure, surface finish and inspection scope are reviewed against the confirmed design and production conditions.

Support for two-shot PC bezel tooling covers the agreed tooling scope, project documents and mold trial requirements. Drawing revisions, inspection items and sample acceptance criteria guide communication through design review, manufacture and trial approval.
