Challenge:
The main challenge was to achieve a bright and uniform mirror-like surface on the headlamp photometric lens. The visible surface required strict appearance control, as any flow marks, weld lines, sink marks, scratches, polishing marks, or uneven gloss could affect the final visual quality. Since this part is related to light transmission and optical appearance, the molding process also needed to maintain surface clarity and stable optical performance.
Solution:
We applied high-precision machining and fine polishing to the mold surface to meet the mirror-finish requirement. The gate layout and cooling system were optimized to improve material flow and reduce surface defects. During mold trials, we fine-tuned the mold temperature, material temperature, injection speed, holding pressure, and cooling time to ensure a stable high-gloss appearance, consistent mirror-like surface quality, and reliable optical performance.
